Round and round the baby go round
17-Mar-08
So things (that is non Duncan related things) are getting done bit by bit. Now have a magazine rack up for the mail, magazine and millions of wee man related letters we receive these days as opposed to having them spread about half a dozen places downstairs. We now having the shower working in the bathroom (wooooohooooooo – can you tell I’ve missed it). Asides from that Duncan and myself had a fairly lazy week mostly staying in and playing.
A couple of weeks ago we stayed with friends in Cheshire who were having a murder mystery night involving many of my old housemates from Leeds. The wee man of course decided it was all a bit too much for him and decided it was a good night to give his lungs a major work out. Rob of course decided to get very very drunk so wasn’t much help but Matt’s mum was great with Duncan so I actually got to eat a hot dinner and she continued to give me wee breaks throughout the rest of the night. This was slightly reminiscent of when she had her daughter five years ago when they still lived around here and my mum pretty much did the same for her when we were moving some of my things out of their house. Next morning I was woken at least half a dozen times by said daughter desperate to see Duncan but not quite understanding that I wasn’t mad at her but just grumpy due to only having three hours sleep. Rob had one of his arrrg I’m dying days spending the morning and a chunk of the afternoon in bed before surfacing. Eventually we headed home although I suspect Rob was still a little fragile since he actually let me drive without argument.
We went to a wedding last weekend (Rob’s cousin) in Liversedge which was all good. We had a very hard time avoiding Duncan being handed around from pillar to post but overall we all had a good time and despite some very very loud music the wee man kept demanding I take him to see the flashing coloured disco lights whilst he was facing outwards in the wrap.
It was there I suspect he picked up this bug he has had the past few days. He had been a little grumpier than usual this week and on Friday night he got quite a bit of a fever so got his first taste of Calpol which seemed to do the trick. Out of hours doctors didn’t think it necessary to see him so we just kept a close eye on him. He is at least smiling and happy again but he still isn’t 100% so I will be postponing his hip scan and jabs that he was supposed to have this week until he is back to normal. Poor wee soul hasn’t been finishing his feeds where as normally he’d guzzle down 6oz of expressed milk in 10 minutes or less. Add to that he has had bad nappy rash the past couple of days which we have barely seen since we stopped using disposables nine weeks ago. Totsbots nappies are fab btw.
So aside from being poorly he is doing well. He’s desperate to be sat up most of his awake time now as well as wanting to grab hold of his toys with both hands and gets very frustrated when they are just out of reach. Hard work being twelve weeks old.
